    Johnson has bought a stake in Eagle Football Holdings. The company Texter owns that owns several clubs, in a deal believed to be worth almost £190 million.

    The 78-year-old American has signed the Premier League club’s owners’ charter. After joining chairman Steve Parish, Josh Harris and David Blitzer as partners and directors of Crystal Palace.

    “I am honoured and privileged to be joining the ownership group of Crystal Palace Football Club,” Johnson said on the club’s official website.

    “This organisation has a deep history, tradition and roots in English football in south London. Which I greatly admired during my time as US Ambassador to the UK.”

    “Eagles fans have demonstrated unwavering loyalty, passion, and dedication. I’m excited to meet and get to know them.”

    “We are delighted to welcome Woody as the new owner of this football club,” Parish added.

    “We look forward to working with him to build on our historic success moving forward.”

    Johnson, a former US ambassador to the UK, purchased the NFL’s Jets in 2000.

    He is one of the heirs of the Johnson family. Founders of the pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson.

    The Bloomberg Billionaires Index estimates his wealth at around £6.8 billion ($9.18 billion) in 2024.
